Bridges
What is a dental bridge?
Dental bridges serve to bridge the gap created by one or more missing teeth. A bridge is made up of two abutment teeth - crowns on either side of the gap – with a false tooth or pontic in between. Dental bridges are supported by natural teeth or implants.
Installing a fixed dental bridge involves reducing the tooth structure of the adjoining teeth. This means literally grinding down the teeth to allow for the bridge. For this reason, Dr. Holland may recommend dental implants, which do not require reducing any existing tooth structure.
